This week we learned that Ohio State will open the season with new faces at an important spot: the so-called "Star", or nickel back. Don't look for that to be how the nickel package shakes out all season, though.
In the past, the Ohio State star has been hard-hitting safeties such as Mike Doss and Donte Whitner, but the Buckeyes will start season with bigger, more physical players there: linebacker-turned-safety Jermale Hines and linebacker-turned-safety-turned-linebacker again Tyler Moeller.
How those two fare there is worth watching this weekend, but the return of Donald Washington and Jamario O'Neal from suspensions in time for the USC tilt will shake things up again.
