Upper Midlands Weekly Recruiting Notebook

Several of the programs in the Upper Midlands region were on spring break in the past week but that didn't stop recruiting from taking place. A handful offers were shelled out and many of the region's top prospects began to make plans for the future.

It was Spring Break for a number of high schools in the Upper Midlands region but that didn't stop a lot of noise from taking place on the recruiting trail. Not many offers were sent out but a ton of news took place as the top prospects make plans for how to move forward in their process.

Webb City (MO) offensive lineman Dalton Ford is a prospect with an Illinois offer. Kansas State, Missouri, Minnesota, and Oregon have also shown serious interest lately. Look for Ford to hit the camp circuit hard over the summer. An offer from the in-state Tigers would be tough for him to turn down.

Kansas City (MO) Winnetonka safety Marquise Doherty shines on the football field and the baseball field. A few of his offers are for both sports. Nebraska, Kansas State, and Cincinnati have all offered the three-star to play both football and baseball. The Bearcats are one of his more recent along offers, along with Indiana. Most schools are recruiting Doherty as an athlete, specifically wide receiver or safety.

Lee's Summit (MO) quarterback Drew Lock continues to get a flurry of offers as Michigan State claimed a seat at the table yesterday. His last two offers have come from the Big Ten in the Spartans and Ohio State.

Jefferson City (MO) Helias tight end Hale Hentges has cemented dates for his next three unofficial visits. The four-star junior will visit Ohio State on April 3, Michigan State on April 4, and Michigan on April 5. He also hopes to visit Florida State, Alabama, Auburn, and LSU before making his college choice.

Nixa (MO) running back Alec Murphy is a prospect that is still a bit under the radar but has picked up a couple new scholarship offers from Purdue and Iowa State to his collection that already consisted of Illinois, Iowa, and Mississippi State.

Columbia (MO) Rock Bridge wide receiver Alex Ofodile visited Nebraska last weekend. The four-star wideout also has plans to visit Notre Dame and Penn State in the future.

Lawrence (KS) Free State offensive lineman Scott Frantz has offers from Kansas, Kansas State, Marshall, and Idaho. The Wildcats were the most recent. Frantz will visit Missouri today followed by a trip to Iowa in a week. The Tigers could be tough competition if they were to offer Frantz.

Seward (NE) defensive tackle Adam Holtorf added an Ivy League offer this week. Harvard offered the Nebraska standout, joining Kansas State and Ohio in doing so.

Omaha (NE) North offensive lineman Michael Decker is a prospect to watch. He has offers from Kansas State and the in-state Huskers so far. I would not be surprised to see the three-star junior add his share of others.

Murray (IA) linebacker Seth Nerness visited Iowa State for junior day recently. The Cyclones are his only offer so far but will be tough to be regardless if others join the fray. The only stiff competition for Nerness would be Iowa if they decide to jump in with an offer.

Lawton (OK) defensive back Darreyl Patterson has added Washington State and Kansas State offers recently. I would be surprised if others didn't follow suit.

Roland (OK) defensive end Austin Cantrell got in the column with an Arkansas offer. I don't think it will be his last.

Oklahoma commit Josh Wariboko has added new offers from Oregon, Florida, and Duke in the past few weeks. The four-star offensive guard remains solid to the Sooners.

Junior college football programs are beginning to get a better idea of what their rosters will look like for the upcoming season. Two names to know hail from Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. Defensive end Marquavius Lewis has already garnered offers from Auburn, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Kansas State, Missouri, West Virginia, Arkansas, and Miami. He also received offers from UCLA and Arizona State yesterday.

Fellow defensive end Jeremiah Ledbetter has already collected offers from Florida and Miami.
