The 6-foot-2, 199 pound safety is now a five-star prospect on Scout and he is the No. 1 safety in the country.
James is a do-it-all safety, but he is best against the run and playing very physical. He loves to fly in the box, make the big hit, and he can wow the crowd. He has good range, he displays good football speed in the open field, and he closes on the ball well. He can still improve his coverage skills and the angles he takes to the ball/receiver.
His size could lead some to think linebacker longterm, but Scout predicts he stays at safety. He will be a strong safety at FSU who plays the alley, supports the run, and lays the wood. His hands are above average also.
James is a prospect Scout was first impressed with a year ago. He has only gotten better. The star out of Haines City, Fla. is explosive and athletic.
Plenty of schools are still trying to recruit him, but James says he is a "man of his word" and solid to FSU. He has a Seminole tattoo on his arm.
James is the No. 5 prospect in Florida on Scout.
He finished with 107 tackles, five forced fumbles, and three interceptions in 2013. He added 16 touchdowns on offense, 12 rushing (845 yards) and four receiving (305 yards).
