Possible Position Switch For Campbell?

Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary is loaded with talent again this season, and they will try to defend last season's state championship. Tailback Parris Campbell is a four-star talent, and early Ohio State commit.

Ohio State landing a commitment from tailback Parris Campbell was big for the 2014 Buckeye recruiting class, as head coach Urban Meyer attempts to land another top-rated group.

Campbell, 6-foot-1, 185-pounds, helped lead Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary to the Ohio Division-II title last season. Although he stars at tailback, there is a chance he could play wide receiver for the Buckeyes.

"I'm running track right now, which helps with speed and conditioning," Campbell stated. "No matter where I play at Ohio State, track will help me. They have mentioned playing wide receiver a little, although Coach (Stan) Drayton says I'm staying at runningback."

"I think I can impact the team on offense from either spot, and it doesn't matter to me where I play," he added. "They aren't really sure yet, and they need to see where my body fills out. I have great hands and the speed to play in the slot if they want me to."

It will be interesting to see what position Campbell works out at Ohio State's upcoming summer camp.

"I haven't really talked to them about where they want me to work out at camp, and I will go with whatever group they want me in," he explained.

Under Urban Meyer, the runningback position has changed dramatically for Ohio State. Campbell feels his game is suited for the newer role.

"I like what they're doing now, and it's a big improvement," he stressed. "The runningback is not just limited to running the football, and is used to spread the defense out more. I think I fit that role perfectly with my skill set."

"Guys like Ezekiel Elliott are great players, and I know I have to go in prepared to try to win a spot," he continued. "The competition will make all of us better."

Campbell is eager to try to win another state title for St. Vincent-St. Mary.

"My job is to make sure everybody is working on the same goal, and football is just right around the corner," he said. "I just want to make sure everyone is working hard, including myself."

Teammate Dante Booker is also a top target of the Buckeyes, and Campbell admitted he is helping recruit the four-star linebacker.

"I always tell him if he wants to win a national championship, he'd better come to Ohio State," Campbell noted.
