| Cut in the same mold as former Purdue and current Tampa Bay fullback Mike Alstott. Schmidt is a down-hill runner that will probably play fullback or H-back in college. Productive between the tackles and runs with good pad level. Can move the chains to get the tough yards. Excellent leg strength. |
| Biography: |
Schmidt was the top rusher in the state of Indiana as a junior, rushing for 1,726 yards and 29 touchdowns in only eight games. As a freshman and as a sophomore, Schmidt averaged 160 yards per game on 26 carries.
Coach's comments : "Luke has improved his vision and cutting abilities this season. He is an excellent receiver both in the "I" formation and lined up as a wide receiver. Luke is a work horse, accustomed to touching the ball on almost every play. Luke is poised to smash Jasper High School's alltime rushing record, scoring record, and has already scored seven touchdowns in a game." -- Tony Ahrens. |
