| Biography: |
| With the 12th overall pick of the 2004 draft, the Steelers selected Ben Roethlisberger from Miami of Ohio. The three-year starter, whom many have compared to Jim Kelly in terms of leadership, calmness under pressure, and passing ability, comes to Pittsburgh with great size and mobility for a quarterback.
At Miami, Roethlisberger broke almost every career record as a quarterback with 854 completions over 1,304 passes (65.5 percent) for 10,829 yards, 84 touchdowns and 34 interceptions. He was an All-American first-team selection by The NFL Draft Report and earned third-team honors from the Associated Press. Ben also was awarded an All-Mid American Conference first-team selection and was named the conference’s Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year. He led his team to its first bowl appearance in 18 seasons 1986 and its first postseason victory in 28 seasons. |
