| As a junior Simpson was second team Division one Ohio All-State, after gaining 1,640 yards and 23 touchdowns; as a sophomore he rushed for 1,079 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Coach's comments: "I don't know if there is better running back in Ohio," said Coach Coombs. "He ran for almost 1,700 yards for us last year. We're a triple option team and he plays the fullback position, but we put the ball in his hands almost every play. He's a hard running back with good speed. He's very versitile -- he can run inside, he can run outside, he can catch the ball real well, and he'll block for you with a passion. He's a real physical football player."
