D'Anton Lynn, the 6-foot-1, 177-pound four-star safety/cornerback has helped lead his team (Celina, Texas) to a perfect 4-0 record. He has 35 tackles and one interception. On offense he's score five receiving touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns and an additional score off a kick return.
Lynn, ranked the No. 18 safety in the country by Scout.com, still favors Penn State and Florida solidly over Oklahoma, Ohio State, USC, Texas Tech, Louisville and Arkansas. All of his favorites have offered and he has over 20 scholarships.
He has already visit Penn State on Sept. 8 and was supposed to visit Florida for the Auburn game (Sept. 29), but couldn't make it because of a concussion he suffered during his game. "I'm definitely going to reschedule my official visit to Florida," Lynn said. "I like them because they have great defensive backs and are known for putting defensive backs in the NFL. I also really like coach Urban Meyer. He's really easy to talk to and is a real player's coach.
"I was surprised they lost to Auburn, but if they beat LSU this weekend they'll still have a shot to win the national championship."
The only other visit Lynn has already set up is to Oklahoma for the Missouri game on Oct. 13. "Oklahoma is having a pretty good season," he said. "I don't know too much about them, but they are only like two hours away and it would be easy for my friends and family to come see me play. I'm looking forward to my visit to see what it's like over there."
Lynn says he may only take four official visits, although he admits he hasn't decided yet which school will make the cut. "It's really gonna be between Ohio State, USC, Texas Tech, Nebraska, Louisville and Arkansas," he said. "Those are the ones I'm thinking about."
New to the list is Ohio State. "My dad lives in Cleveland and they are another one of those teams that just seems to be good every year," Lynn said. "They have great tradition and really good coaches.
"That's also what I like about USC," he said. "They are great every year and I really like the coaches. I'm definitely still thinking about visiting them."
Lynn says that once he finishes taking his trips he'll make a decision. "The main factor is gonna be which school I'm most comfortable with and which coaches I feel the most comfortable around."
At this point Lynn admits that the coach he has the best relationship with is Brian Norwood (safeties coach) from Penn State. "I have gotten to know him better than any other coach," he said. "I have a great relationship with him and I really like talking to him. He said that I could come in and compete for cornerback my freshman year, but said that they really need help at nickel back and that I might be able to see playing time pretty quickly."
Lynn says that all of the schools are telling him he may play cornerback or safety.
He reports a 2.5 core GPA and a 1060 SAT.
