Sunday, June 13
The future of Ohio State's defensive line is the subject of a feature story by the Columbus Dispatch.

The Dispatch analyzes the recent expansion news and calls the Big Ten's move a winner. The Dispatch also says there are many questions still left to be answered.

The Lorain Morning Journal has a story on a possible Big Ten football title game, something the city of Cleveland would like to host.

Ray Stein and Doug Lesmerises answer some OSU-related questions in their respective mailbags in the Dispatch and Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Finally, the Dayton Daily News has a note on former Ohio State golfer Carling Coffing, who will be one of the participants on the new season of The Golf Channel's Big Break.


Saturday, June 12
Big Ten expansion has officially begun. Nebraska officially became the 11th member of the conference on Friday and will join the Big Ten in 2011. The Lincoln Journal Star, Omaha World-Herald, Columbus Dispatch, Cleveland Plain Dealer and The Associated Press (via the Canton Repository) have the story.

Doug Lesmerises of the Plain Dealer tackles the question of aligning the divisions in the new Big Ten.

Rob Oller of the Dispatch suggests the Big Ten throw money to Notre Dame in order to get the Fighting Irish on board, too. The Chicago Tribune has a story on the Irish saying they prefer to stay independent.

Finally, the Dayton Daily News has a story on former Buckeye Daequan Cook returning to his hometown to host a young basketball camp next week.


Friday, June 11
It's all but official now: Nebraska will be the 12th member of the Big Ten. The Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World-Herald have the latest news from Nebraska. The Columbus Dispatch has a story on Nebraska and its passion for college football.

The Dispatch has a story on the first conference domino falling Thursday when Colorado bolted the Big 12 for the Pac-10.

Michael Arace of the Dispatch argues bigger conferences will be better.

Doug Lesmerises of the Cleveland Plain Dealer asks if the Big Ten should change its name.

The wait will continue for the Greater Columbus Sports Commission as no action was taken on bids for the title games Thursday during the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s board of directors meeting. The Canton Repository has the story.

The Dayton Daily News asks if the Big Ten will add a member today.

Thursday, June 10
After a lot of stories containing rumors and little news, there is apparently movement when it comes to Big Ten expansion. The Columbus Dispatch, Cleveland Plain Dealer and The Associated Press (via the Dayton Daily News) have stories on the conference inviting Nebraska to join its ranks.

As for the view from Nebraska, the Lincoln Journal-Star and Omaha World-Herald have stories on the Huskers' move.

The NCAA released its annual Academic Progress Report on Wednesday and it had some good news when it came to Ohio State sports. The Dispatch has the details.

OSU defensive lineman Cameron Heyward met with the media on Wednesday to talk about being named to the Playboy All-America team. The Dispatch has a funny quote from Heyward about the honor.

Finally, the Los Angeles Times has a story on the NCAA penalties levied against USC.


Wednesday, June 9
The Dayton Daily News has Big Ten expansion comments from Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith, who was giving a speech in suburban Dayton.

The transfer of men's basketball player Evan Ravenel from Boston College to Ohio State became official on Tuesday, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer and The Associated Press (via the Toledo Blade) have stories on the announcement.

Finally, the Columbus Dispatch and Canton Repository have stories on the battle for the OHSAA football championship games. Columbus, along with some help from Ohio State, made its case on Tuesday.


Tuesday, June 8
Ohio State baseball standout Alex Wimmers was drafted in the first round of the 2010 MLB first-year player draft Monday night by the Minnesota Twins. The Columbus Dispatch and St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press have stories on Wimmers' big day. La Velle E. Neal III also has a blog entry on Wimmers for the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Future Ohio State men's basketball player Deshaun Thomas of Fort Wayne (Ind.) Bishop Luers played in the Indiana All-Stars game at his high school on Monday, and the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Fort Wayne News-Sentinel and Indianapolis Star have stories on Thomas' last game at Luers.


Monday, June 7
The Columbus Dispatch has a story on Big Ten expansion and how the conference may have to act faster because of moves by the Big 12 and Pac 10.

Doug Lesmerises of the Cleveland Plain Dealer writes that the Pac 10 may force the Big Ten to move quickly. Lesmerises also has his Hey, Doug! OSU mailbag.
