AZ Cardinals Stuff Rams to Stay Road Perfect

The Arizona Cardinals continued to erase the opposition's home field advantage, when they lit up Edward Jones Dome in a 21-13 win over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. While Arizona was clearly the better football team, there were a few key players and plays that prevented the game from being a total yawn-fest.

Kurt Warner authored a 21-13 win over his former team, the St. Louis Rams, on Sunday in St. Louis. Warner was met with warm cheers from his former home crowd but the Rams defense didn't hold the same sentiments.

Warner felt pressure from DE Chris Long immediately. Leonard Little and James Hall finished Long's work. The two combined for Warner's only take-down of the game.

The Rams' persistent blitz took Warner out of the game late in the first half. Warner took a hit to the head, which benched him for the remainder of the game.

Warner put in enough work to allow Matt Leinart to be stagnant during his two quarters-plus of playing time. Warner completed 15 out of 19 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns (Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald).

Warner established a solid pass-rush ratio that held over with Leinart at the reigns. When Leinart passed, he went 10/14. Leinart compiled 74 yards, zero interceptions and one sack (Chris Long).

Leinart was diplomatic in his passes. His biggest pass of the game was to Early Doucet for 20 yards. But Leinart was never able to seal the deal with a touchodwn of his own.

The running game allowed the Cardinals to move the chains with ease. Tim Hightower hit the century mark for the first time since his last meeting with the Rams. Hightower rushed for 110 yards. His longest rush was 50 yards, the longest of the season. Beanie Wells took care of 74 yards on the ground and added to his touchdown count as well.

Wells performance put in a bid for the starting nod, and he more than made up for his fumble on opening first drive. The turnover resulted in three points for the Rams.

On defense, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie broke up a pivotal touchdown pass in the end zone, as did Michael Adams who played a stellar game. He capped the game off with eight tackles, which was second only to Karlos Dansby.

Also notable, were Adrian Wilson (one interception), Will Davis (one sack) and Darnell Dockett (one sack). The Cardinals continue their quest next Sunday when they take on the struggling Tennessee Titans.
