Saturday, May 16
Reliever Jake Hale got out of a ninth-inning jam and Ohio State stayed alive in the race for the regular season Big Ten title Friday with a 5-4 home victory over Iowa. The Columbus Dispatch has a recap of the game.

The Dispatch also has an OSU sports roundup, led with a note on an impressive rally by the softball Buckeyes.

The Fort Wayne (Ind.) News-Sentinel has a story on Ohio State's men's basketball recruiting.

The Dispatch has a story on the baseball Buckeyes and their big home series this weekend vs. Iowa. The Dispatch also has a story on the turnaround of the softball team after a disappointing 2008. Finally, the Dispatch has a men's tennis story on how the Buckeyes could be affected by the Texas heat during the third round of the NCAA tournament.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer has a blog entry on how historic posters can tell the story of the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry.


Wednesday, May 13
As of tomorrow, it will have been 2,000 days since the last time Michigan defeated Ohio State in football. The Cleveland Plain Dealer has a story on the Buckeyes' long streak of success. The Columbus Dispatch has a feature story on former hockey Buckeye David Steckel, who led the Washington Capitals to victory Monday in Game 6 of their NHL Eastern Conference semifinal vs. Pittsburgh. The Capitals and Penguins play Game 7 tonight.

Bob Baptist of the Dispatch has a blog note on the Ohio State men's basketball team possibly opening the season vs. Isiah Thomas and Florida International.

Tuesday, May 12
Former Ohio State hockey player David Steckel played the hero on Monday for the Washington Capitals when he deflected a Brooks Laich shot past Pittsburgh goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, giving the Caps a 4-3 overtime victory. The Washington Times has a recap of the dramatic Game 6 as well as a notebook, led with a note on the former Buckeye and his linemates.

The Canton Repository has a story on the passing of former Ohio State football player Jim Reichenbach.

The Columbus Dispatch has a feature story on men's tennis player Chase Buchanan, who will play in the No. 6 singles spot when the Buckeyes face Boise State in the third round of the NCAA tournament on Thursday.

Monday, May 11
The Ohio State baseball team defeated Illinois Sunday and took two of three games in a key Big Ten series. The Buckeyes are new a half-game behind first-place Minnesota with three conference games to go. The Columbus Dispatch and Champaign (Ill.) News Gazette have recaps of OSU's latest win.

The Mansfield News Journal has a feature story on local OSU football walkons Dalton Britt and Derek Erwin. The News Journal also has a story on former Buckeye Joel Penton, who recently visited a local middle school and gave a speech about his faith.


Sunday, May 10
The Ohio State baseball team rebounded from a difficult loss Friday night to score a 10-7 victory in the second game of a three-game set at Illinois last night. The Columbus Dispatch and Champaign (Ill.) News Gazette has recaps of the Buckeyes' victory.
