With just two days remaining until National Signing day, Ohio State has added another big name to its class of 2009. Four-star offensive tackle prospect Marcus Hall from Cleveland Glenville picked the Buckeyes on Feb. 2, giving them 26 verbal commitments. Updated with quotes at 12:21 p.m.

And the pipeline continues to flow.

With two days remaining until National Signing Day and just one day after taking his final official visit, four-star offensive tackle prospect Marcus Hall from Cleveland Glenville announced his college destination.

Hall will be a Buckeye.

“It’s home,” he told BuckeyeSports.com. “The state of Ohio is like a real big family. I saw that when I went down to Ohio State. It’s always great to play in front of your family.”

Describing himself as a “hometown kid,” Hall said the chance to play for a program close to home helped push the Buckeyes over the top.

“It’s great to know that always have somebody to turn to when you come out of the locker room after a game and know that you have family and friends in the stadium,” he said.

Hall called OSU head coach Jim Tressel Monday morning and informed him of his decision. After returning home from an official visit to Tennessee on Sunday evening, Hall said he had made up his mind before he went to sleep that night.

“Tennessee was real nice,” he said. “I had grown interested in them because my teammate, Mike Edwards, he committed there. He liked it a lot, so I had to go see what it was like. I came back just knowing I had to go to Ohio State.”

Ranked by Scout.com as the No. 5 offensive tackle prospect and the No. 65 prospect overall, Hall is the second Tarblooder to join OSU's class of 2009. Four-star defensive end prospect Jonathan Newsome is the other.

When the two sign on the dotted line this Wednesday, they will give the Buckeyes seven former Tarblooders listed on the roster.

“It’s real big,” Hall said. “It’s obviously a pipeline, but I don’t think people should expect every Glenville kid that can to go to Ohio State because it’s always their decision. Ohio State might not be the best decision for that person, but obviously it was the best decision for me. It’s a real good school.”

Although the Buckeyes have been viewed as the leaders for Hall's services for most of his recruitment, the 6-5, 293-pound Hall never publicly tipped his hand. He took official visits to OSU, Michigan, Miami and Tennessee, and after each he had glowing things to say about his most recent host.

But in the end, the opportunity to stay in-state and play for the Buckeyes proved too much to resist, and he became verbal commitment No. 26 for OSU's class of 2009. As it turns out, Hall now says that the Buckeyes have led for his services since day one.

“I started out with Ohio State,” he said. “They were the first school recruiting me. From day one, I’ve just been comparing schools to Ohio State. At the end of the day, to me Ohio State has the best deal going on.”

The Buckeyes now have four offensive linemen in this year's class. He joins tackles Jack Mewhort and Sam Longo and guard Corey Linsley. Mewhort is already enrolled in courses.
