Both teams are bringing up the rear statistically in the Big Ten in a category or three, and a couple of Buckeyes enter the contest Saturday with the contest to break into the top 10 in career categories.

1
Ohio State leads the Big Ten in pass defense and punt return average.

2
Brian Robiskie needs two catches to pass Bill Anders and Joey Galloway and move into ninth place on Ohio State’s career receptions list.

4

The fourth quarter remains Ohio State’s highest-scoring on the season. The Buckeyes have 55 points in the last stanza, 40 in the first, 36 in the second and 23 in the third.

7
Chris “Beanie” Wells needs seven yards to pass Calvin Murray and move into 10th place on Ohio State’s all-time rushing list. Wells has 2,570 yards in his career as a Buckeye. With 80 yards, Wells will pass No. 9 Raymont Harris.

9
There are nine Boilermakers from Ohio: Cornerback Royce Adams (Cleveland Glenville), quarterback Chris Bennett (Bellbrook), wide receiver Greg Orton (Huber Heights Wayne), safety Logan Link (West Liberty-Salem), safety Walter Williams (Columbus St. Charles) and offensive linemen Dan Barry (Mentor Lake Catholic), Mike Chacksfield (Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy), Zach Reckman (Cincinnati Indian Hill) and Rick Schmeig (Cincinnati Oak Hills). Two Buckeyes are from Indiana: cornerback Donald Washington (Indianapolis Franklin Central) and defensive tackle Dexter Larimore (Merrillville).

11
Purdue is 11th (last) in the Big Ten in three defensive categories: rushing, passing and total yards allowed. Ohio State is last in the league in passing yards, sacks, sacks allowed and tackles for loss.

20
The Boilermakers’ last victory in Ohio Stadium was 20 years ago, a 31-26 Homecoming defeat the same day Ohio State recognized the 20th anniversary of its 1968 national championship team.

34
Buckeye linebacker James Laurinaitis has 34 tackles in the past three weeks (12 apiece against Troy and Minnesota and 10 against Wisconsin). During that span, he has moved up to 14th on Ohio State’s all-time tackles list and passed Eddie Beamon, Nick Buonamici, Lorenzo Styles and Jerome Foster.

51
Saturday Ohio State and Purdue will meet for the 51st time. Ohio State leads the all-time series 36-12-2.

302
Laurinaitis has 302 career tackles and is the 14th Buckeye to record at least 300.

2,500
With 168 yards rushing last week at Wisconsin, Wells passed the 2,500-mark for his career. He is the 11th Buckeye to do so.
