High school football kicked off this weekend across the state of Ohio. For a look at how some of Ohio State's 2009 verbal commitments fared, plus notes on some of the out-of-state members of the class, read on.

Twelve Ohio State recruits for 2009 were in action across Ohio this weekend, while one watched from the sidelines as his team roll to victory.

Melvin Fellows, C.J. Barnett, Jack Mewhort, Adam Homan, Corey Linsley and Jonathan Newsome along with high school teammates Jamie Wood and Zach Boren all took part in 1-0 starts for their respective teams.
