The Ohio State Buckeyes got more good news today when Melvin Fellows notified Jim Tressel he was switching his commitment from Illinois to Ohio State.
"I thought about this long and hard and I' committing to Ohio State," Fellows said minutes ago. "Nothing against Illinois, but this is the best thing for me. The distance was a factor. It will be easier for my family to see me play. Then there's the chance to play for Jim Tressel. That was just too good to pass up."
Fellows notified Ohio State head coach of his decision today.
"Coach Tressel was very happy," Fellows reported. "He told me to work hard and be a leader this year. He also told me to watch the draft this Saturday. He said maybe some day he will be watching my name get selected. I'm very happy to be a Buckeye."
Fellows attended the Ohio State spring game last Saturday and spent time with several Buckeye commits. He said that might have played a part in his decision.
"Those guys are my friends and that made it easier," Fellows explained. "But in the end, I had to do what was best for me and my family. I'm glad to be going to school with Storm Klein, Johnny Simon, and the rest of the Buckeye recruits. It feels great to tell you the truth."
