Pryor Decides Not To Decide

Ohio State fans holding their collective breath until Terrelle Pryor makes a final decision might want to exhale. On National Signing Day, the nation's top prospect has opted to keep considering his options rather than issue a commitment, and BuckeyeSports.com has the first report.

JEANNETTE, Pa. – Staring his future directly in the face, Terrelle Pryor had an unusual reaction.

He blinked.

With an announcement scheduled to be captured by national television cameras, dozens of reporters and even more cameras, the nation’s top prospect looked directly into his future and opted to keep thinking.

National Signing Day is the first day high school players can formally sign paperwork and declare their intent to enroll at a specific college, but players actually have until April 1 to make a final decision. And after not being able to come to a final decision between his top four schools, Pryor has opted to continue considering his options.

Pryor’s decision should not come as a major shock to anyone who has been following his recruitment. In the days leading up to signing day, conflicting reports surfaced regarding his final intention. Some, like the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, wrote that he was “80 to 90 percent” sure he would be announcing on signing day, while others confirmed that he would not be.

The only thing that appeared to be certain in the final two weeks leading up to signing day was the fact that he had dropped LSU from his list of potential suitors, leaving Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon and Penn State all still in the running.

Pryor had officially visited OSU and Michigan, but he had been considering taking further visits to check out both the Ducks and the Nittany Lions. Those rumors culminated with at least one report Tuesday night saying that Pryor would be tripping to those two schools and that he would be delaying his final announcement indefinitely.

Now the nation will just have to continue to wait as Pryor considers his options further.

A 6-5, 225-pound prospect with 4.4-second speed in the 40-yard dash, Pryor helped lead his team to a state championship as a senior. The dual-threat quarterback passed for 1,790 yards and rushed for 1,901 more in his final prep season. A three-time all-state selection, he accounted for 60 touchdowns last year – 36 rushing, 23 passing and one receiving.

Thought to be an OSU lean for some time, although he claimed not to have a leader throughout the entirety of the recruiting process, Pryor was the only quarterback pursued by the Buckeyes for their class of 2008.
