Lawrence "Moe" Dampeer from Decatur, IL is rated as one of the top
overall prospects in America by just about everyone. He is currently
listed as the #2 DT by TheInsiders.com and the #26
overall player in America. How are things going so far with his
season?
"We are 2-3 and we should be 3-2," he said. "We lost a lot of
seniors from last year's team."
Moe is a versatile athlete, and it shows on the field.
"I play TE on offense," Moe said. "I told coach to give me a
shot and he finally did. (On defense) I play both DT and DE. We play a lot
of different fronts, so it depends on what we are in where I line up."
Moe hasn't scheduled his visits yet, and as it turns out, those will depend
on what goes in in his favorite sport, which is not football.
"I want to wait and see the basketball schedule before I set my visits,"
he said. "I have some smaller schools looking at me for basketball. I
prefer basketball, but I know I am a football player."
Moe also talked about his academic situation.
"I had to make up a couple of classes," he said. "I won't know
for a while but I am feeling pretty good about it."
So what lucky schools are in on Moe right now?
"As it stands right now, I am sure Tennessee, Oklahoma and Miami get
visits," I have already been to Tennessee on an unofficial. All of them
have offered me. I am not sure about my other two yet."
One school who would be a good candidate for one of those remaining visits is
Ohio State. He's waiting for OSU to get in touch, and would he take a
visit if they did?
"Probably," Moe said. "I have family in Columbus. It depends
on how it goes if they call."
