Columbus leaves an Impression on Jenkins

Although, Josh Jenkins was not mentioned among the talented quartet that fans dubbed the Block “O”, the Buckeyes seemed to have targeted the big West Virginian and are proving to be a serious player. Jenkins visited the Buckeyes over the weekend for a junior day event.

Josh Jenkins of Parkersburg, W.Va., used one word to sum up his Ohio State experience over the weekend. “It was awesome,” Jenkins said. “They are definitely one of my top schools right now.

“They gave me a tour of the campus. They showed me the new dorms, which look like mini apartments. They took us to show us where we would be eating at.”

One area that really caught the standout offensive lineman’s eye was the academic portion of the tour.

“They showed us the academic center,” he said. “We took a tour of the three story building. The computer lab was really nice.”

Jenkins received some one on one time with head coach Jim Tressel.

“He was telling me how much they want me at Ohio State,” Jenkins explained. “They seem to be recruiting me as an offensive guard. I also had the chance to meet with a number of the current players, but I’m bad with names.”

Jenkins was treated to an exciting basketball game between the No. 1 ranked Buckeyes and No. 2 ranked Wisconsin Badgers. Jenkins attended the junior day with Parkersburg assistant coach Mark McCullough and Jenkins’ little brother a 6-2/210 eighth grader Justin Johnson.

“He’ll be better than me.” Jenkins explained.

Jenkins will be attending a junior day at West Virginia this weekend and he is planning a few more trips.

“I may go back up to Ohio State March 8-10th, so I can hook up with Mike Brewster and hang out,” Jenkins said. “I may go to see Florida and Florida State in April, during my spring break.”
