Pentello, being recruited as a defensive back, talked about his decision to become a Buckeye.
"I've been a Buckeye all my life," Pentello exclaimed. "My entire family roots for Ohio State. It's part of who we are. My father has been running youth camps at Ohio State for a long time. It's a great school not only for football but also from an education standpoint. Getting offered by Ohio State was the best for me. Faxing in my letter just makes it official. It will be a great day for me and my family."
Pentello has developed a close relationship with head coach Jim Tressel and his staff.
"First off Jim Tressel is a coach who will not only make you a better football player, he will make you a better man," Pentello said. "He will make you a better person and that will benefit me the rest of my life. I've gotten to know him better as the season progressed. I attended most of the home games and we spoke pretty often.'
"I speak to Paul Haynes and Tim Beckman too. They will be my position coaches. I'm pretty sure they will want me at safety but they've mentioned playing cornerback also. I'm pretty sure I will red shirt next year but I'll do whatever the coach's want. Sitting out the first year would enable me to get adjusted to college life."
Pentello spoke about who has had the greatest influence in his life.
"First off it would be Jesus Christ. I owe everything to The Lord," Pentello explained. "Second would be my father. As my coach, and my dad, he pushed me for more than I thought I could be. The support I received from him, and my whole family, means everything to me."
