Wide receiver/defensive back Chris Givens of Chillicothe, Ohio will soon be
making one lucky college football program very happy.
"I am real close to a decision," he said. "I will make it in the third or
fourth week of July."
In the past, Givens has listed Miami (Ohio),
Cincinnati, Akron, Michigan State, Purdue, Northwestern and Louisville as his
favorites. Some of those schools began to turn up the heat after a good showing
at the Scout.com combine.
"I did really well at the Scout combine," he said. "It triggered some new
interest. Louisville, West Virginia, Purdue, Indiana, Vanderbilt all have been
showing a great deal of interest since.
"Miami of Ohio is one of my favorites. My brother is there."
Givens will apparently make a decision between the schools he has previously
considered.
"I am done camping," he said. "The only ones still going on are with schools
that are too far away.
"I could not make it up to Ohio State. My family was on vacation."
Some feel Givens could be an outstanding defensive back as well as a receiver
but he appears to be set on wideout in college.
"Everyone is recruiting me as a receiver," he said. "That works out well since
that is where I want to play anyway."
Chalk Givens's name down as another who plans on enrolling in college early.
"I would like to be on campus for spring ball," he said. "My cousin is at
Marshall. He says the mental adjustment is everything. I think I can handle it."
Givens will major in business finance in college.
