OSU cornerback E.J. Underwood will transfer to
Campbellsville University in Kentucky, an NAIA school, Bucknuts was informed this evening.
"We will be taking him down tomorrow to enroll," said E.J.'s father, Rev. Elmer Underwood. "He will start summer classes on
Tuesday."
The parting with Ohio State was amicable.
"E.J. stood up and
took resonsibility," Rev. Underwood said. "He did not do what he needed to do in the classroom.
He did not do his part. He stood up and took responsibility for it. I am
proud of him that."
The Underwoods have known Campbellsville assistant
coach David Poole for many years.
"E.J. is comfortable with the
decision," Rev. Underwood said. "He is at peace for the first time in a long time. He wishes
his teammates and Ohio State all the luck in the world. They will have no bigger fan than E.J. He is a Buckeye at heart."
Underwood signed with Ohio State in 2002 out of Hamilton (Oh.) High School. He played in all 14 games as a true freshman, but missed much of 2003 due to injury. He played in eleven games and had 29 tackles in 2004.
