One of the highest-rated uncommitted recruits still showing interest in Ohio State is four-star DB/WR Carlos Thomas (5-11, 170) out of College Park (Ga.)
Banneker High School. Thomas is rated as the No. 8 player in the state of
Georgia by scout.com.
"I'll be in Columbus this weekend," Thomas said. "I'm also set up for South Carolina and
Florida."
Thomas, who lists his fastest 40 time as being 4.25, is intrigued with the
possibility of playing both ways in college.
"Being able to play both ways is something that got me excited about Ohio
State," he said.
Thomas, who says playing time, environment and educational possibilities will
be key factors in his decision, got a chance to see Ohio State play in the Alamo
Bowl.
"I really liked what I saw out there," Thomas said. "They were really getting after it."
Thomas says he will be a signing day commit, and he doesn't see make himself making a
decision before then. He had been a baseball player before this year but has been running indoor track
and said he plans on playing football in the spring -- in college.
"I will be wherever I'm going for spring ball," he said.
On a final note, Thomas predicted that USC would win tonight's Orange Bowl,
but like this reporter, he feels Auburn is the best team in the country.
