ATH Alex Daniels of Columbus Brookhaven is one of the most sought-after
uncommitted Ohio seniors. Buckeye fans have him high on their wish list right
now, but Daniels has more pressing matters than recruiting to worry about as his
undefeated Brookhaven team takes on undefeated Avon Lake this weekend for the
Division II Ohio football championship. Avon Lake is No. 1 in Ohio, while
Brookhaven is No. 2.
Daniels is very focused on the game and wants a title in a big way.
"I never wanted anything any more in my life," Daniels said.
"I'm ready to play right now. So are my teammates."
So, not surprisingly, Daniels is not worried about recruiting at this moment.
"It's just like the last time with recruiting," Daniels said.
"I'm enjoying this (season) so much, I'm not really even thinking about
recruiting. I've never been on a winner before. Never."
Daniels did offer up a couple of recruiting tidbits. He has three schools
picked out for visits.
"I'm going to Minnesota next weekend, Oklahoma and Ohio State,"
Daniels said. "That's it right now."
Some have speculated that Daniels may be a lock for Oklahoma. Daniels is high
on the Sooners, but he doesn't understand why people may be saying that he is a
lock.
"Yeah, why is that?" Daniels said. "I like Oklahoma, so I say
nice things about Oklahoma. If I was so sure about going to Oklahoma, why don't
I just commit?"
Daniels (6-3, 225) has had a fine senior season, posting 75 tackles, 4-1/2
sacks, and 3 INTs (two returned for touchdowns).
