We caught up with running back Jason Gwaltney of North Babylon, N.Y. a short
time ago to find out how his official visit to Ohio State went, but we
discovered that he was not yet finished with the visit as he is on a Saturday to
Monday visit.
"It's been a good visit," he said. "As a matter of fact, I'm
still here."
Like many recruits, Gwaltney came away impressed with Ohio Stadium.
"Everything was great here," Gwaltney said. "The stadium was
really impressive. You really don't appreciate it until you can see it."
Gwaltney also liked what he saw out of Ohio State's young talent.
"I can see Ohio State competing for a national championship in the time
I was here if I chose Ohio State," he said. "They're so young, and
then they've got so many good guys coming in, like big Alex Boone."
Dionte Johnson, son of Pepper Johnson, has been his host.
"I heard about his dad, but no, I didn't get a chance to meet him
here," he said.
There are three more visits set for Gwaltney after this one.
"I'm going to Michigan State on the tenth," he said. "Then SC,
and then West Virginia. That is it."
Gwaltney originally committed to West Virginia, but it sounds less and less
like the commitment is solid.
"I like the coaches and everything at West Virginia, but I'm going to go
with my heart," Gwaltney said.
Gwaltney could not make a normal Friday to Sunday visit due to his football
schedule. To say Gwaltney had a big night Friday night is an understatement.
"I scored nine touchdowns and had 406 yards rushing," he said.
"I got taken out midway through the third quarter.
"I got 1878 and 31 touchdowns with two games left."
When can we expect a decision from Gwaltney?
"I'm going to make my announcement January 15th at the Army All-Star
Game," he said.
