Friday night spent in Ft. Wayne, Indiana provided Bucknuts an excellent
opportunity to speak with many of the top Buckeye hoops recruiting priorities
for 2005. One of them was Detroit product Jabari Currie.
“I’d say Ohio State is my leader,” the Pershing star said. “Ohio
State has talked to me about coming in to my school.”
Currie currently mentions a list of Ohio State, West Virginia, Illinois,
Michigan State, and Michigan with West Virginia and Illinois already having
extended scholarship offers.
Currie says most of the teams involved has spoken with him about some of his
weaknesses.
“They (the teams) have talked to me about improving my defense,” he said.
“That’s the main thing right now.”
Currie is a 6-3 point guard who has been getting better lately. Inconsistency
still plagues him at times, and his jumper still needs plenty of refinement, but
those who have seen him several times believe he’s been getting better all the
time.
He has a silky smooth ability to drive the lane and dish the ball to open
teammates. Currie gave no timetable for a decision, citing he would probably see
how things progressed over the summer months.
Bucknuts will continue to monitor this rising prospect.
