Portsmouth LB/DE Tyler Clifford already has the attention of the MAC schools,
and the bigger schools are starting to take notice as well.
"This past weekend, we went to Kent, Akron and Ohio U. Kent and Akron have
already offered," said father and head coach Curt Clifford. "We visited Marshall, and we'll likely go to their camp for one day.
"Cincinnati is showing a lot of interest. Coach Dantonio spoke with him
personally at junior day."
Toledo has also offered Clifford, who can play either LB or DE with his size.
"He's 215 right now, about 6-4 1/2, probably closer to 6-5," Coach
Clifford said.
Tyler also recently attended junior day at Michigan.
"They like him as an outside linebacker since
they're going to the 3-4," said the coach. "He could be a nice fit there.
"They (Michigan) will be in on Thursday. We will be up to Ohio State on Saturday. They
invited him up for the spring game."
Tyler may wind up camping at both those schools.
"We're looking to go to Michigan camp since they are paying the most
attention, and we may go to Ohio State camp," he said. "It just depends on how things go on
Saturday."
Other major programs are starting to take a look as well.
"Penn State has been coming in lately, and BC likes him as an
H-back," Coach Clifford said. "Most
schools like him as a linebacker or defensive end."
Coach Clifford does not expect Tyler to make an early commitment.
