WR Keith Massey of Columbus Marion-Franklin was one of several players to
open some eyes at camp this past weekend, even though he was injured.
"I ran a 4.5, but I had a bad hamstring from track," he said.
"I pulled it the 20th or the 22nd."
Massey voiced his disappointment over having to deal with the nagging injury.
"Before I pulled my hamstring, I had run a 4.37 and a 4.36," he
said. "I had done a 36-inch vertical.
"This was so frustrating. Hamstrings seem to take forever to heal and I
have a big knot in my quad. I really need some rest."
Massey, who measured in at 6-0 1/2, feels he put in a good performance
despite the injury.
"I think I did good on the one-on-ones," he said. "The only
one I didn't catch was a bad ball.
"I went up against Dominic Jones and Brandon Harrison. I thought I did
pretty well against both of them."
Overall, he liked what he saw at Nike.
"Nike was a great experience," he said. "I ran into a lot of
good players, learned a lot, went up against a lot of good football
players."
Massey was impressed with one player in particular, but he couldn't remember
his name.
"There was a kid there from Michigan. He had great hands and was really
quick," Massey said.
Massey has voiced a liking for Michigan in the past, but other schools are
becoming more involved.
"Notre Dame is sending me a lot of mail now, handwritten stuff. So is
Minnesota and Purdue," he said.
Massey is in the middle of track season but the injury may keep him out this
week. He does plan on making it to at least one more combine in the coming
weeks.
"I have a meet on Tuesday, but I will likely miss it. I ran a 10.67 on
the day I hurt my hamstring," he said. "I will be at the city combine.
It's going to be held at our school on May 7th and May 8th."
