Ohio State issued a release a few hours ago, stating that senior linebacker Robert Reynolds had apologized to Wisconsin quarterback Jim Sorgi for choking him during the third quarter of last night's 17-10 defeat in Madison.
The release, published below, does not address any potential sanctions for Reynolds, particularly his status for OSU's game with Iowa this Saturday. It is likely that OSU coach Jim Tressel will address the controversy at his luncheon on Tuesday.
Public reaction, both on the Internet and on radio talk shows around the state, has been strong against Reynolds' actions after ESPN's cameras caught Reynolds briefly grabbing Sorgi by the throat after a tackle.
Sorgi left the game and was replaced by Matt Schabert, who ironically made several plays late in the game to help the Badgers seal the win.

Ohio State linebacker Robert Reynolds has issued an apology to Wisconsin quarterback Jim Sorgi and to Badger Coach Barry Alvarez following Saturday's game in Madison.
"I talked to Coach Alvarez and to Jim Sorgi earlier today and apologized for my actions," said Reynolds. "I lost my poise and there is no
excuse for that. That is certainly not characteristic of Ohio State football. I take full responsibility for my action. As a senior, I have a responsibility to set a better example."
"I have had an opportunity to talk with Coach Alvarez and have apologized on behalf of Ohio State and Rob Reynolds," said Ohio State Coach
Jim Tressel. "Having known Rob for three years, I believe this is an isolated incident and out of character for him. He has apologized to me and
is willing to accept the consequences of his behavior."
