One of the top football prospect in PA this season is the talented WR/S Devon Lyons. We caught up with Devon for an update on all the latest news.

Devon Lyons is one of the top football prospects out of talent rich Pennsylvania this year. This WR/S is ranked 19th in the state among players in his class by He possesses an impressive list of offers, and the Buckeyes are high on his list of favorites.

Lyons only attended the Nike Camp in Pennsylvania this summer. However, despite only attending one camp, Lyons has offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia. His top three, in no particular order, include the Buckeyes, the Irish, and the Spartans.

“I want to go to a school where I like the coaching staff, environment, facilities, a place with tradition, and place where I’ll fit in,” says Lyons. He will make a decision after the 2003 season.

Lyons is a self-described Terrell Owens type player on offense. He has good size for the WR/S positions at 6’4”, 210 lbs. “A lot of schools are recruiting me as a receiver,” explains Lyons. “I don’t know what I am going to play though, but it doesn’t matter if I end up playing on offense or defense. My goal is to go out there this season and to show them I can play both positions.”

Another goal for Lyons is to win the state title this season after losing in the championship game last season to Parkland. His Wolverine teammates have even nicknamed him “The Hope” because they believe he is the player that gives them the most hope for winning a state title this season.

Lyons is an aggressive, smart player with good strength and 4.45 speed. On defense last season, Lyons registered 49 tackles, 5 interceptions, and 5 forced fumbles. A couple areas he feels he could improve on before entering the college football realm are his reads on defense and taking off on the ball more aggressively on offense.

Some of his most memorable moments playing football, Lyons says, are winning the national championship twice in Florida when he played “pee wee” football at age 9 and 10. “I learned you can compete anywhere no matter where you’re from,” says Lyons. He is, of course, referring to the rich football talent that the Sunshine State produces at every age.

Lyons says his biggest influence in football have been his parents, coach, and his cousin Ryan Mundy who has committed to play football at Michigan. Lyons also carries a 3.5 GPA and scored a 1030 on his SAT.

Look forward to a big season from Devon Lyons as the Woodland Hills Wolverines kickoff the 2003 season August 29th.
