Sprinkle was arrested and charged with possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia and riot/failure to disperse as the result of a July 5 incident at the nightclub. The drug charges were dropped, and Sprinkle pleaded no contest to the lighter charge instead. He received two years probation as well as a 30-day jail sentence that was suspended and a $500 fine.
Prosecutor Barry Motsch told the Chronicle-Telegram that the fact that Sprinkle tested negative for drugs after being released from jail helped lead to those charges being dropped.
The favorable result for Sprinkle could pave the way for his return to the Ohio State football program. Sprinkle was dismissed from the team two days after the incident but an OSU spokesman acknowledged at the time that the decision would be revisited once the legal issues were settled.
