“It just felt like the right thing,” he said. “It felt like a family. I prayed on it and feel like I made the right decision.”
The 6-5, 290-pound defensive lineman committed to OSU head coach Urban Meyer toward the end of the camp.
“He was excited, just happy for me to become a Buckeye,” Alabi said.
Alabi worked out at both offensive line and defensive line at Friday Night Lights. He said his position at Ohio State may not be determined until after he arrives.
For now, he’s worried about recruiting some other Cass Tech prospects to join him in Columbus, including a notable four-star running back.
“Mike Weber, I’m trying to get him over here,” Alabi said. “My receiver Levert Hill, (defensive back) Donovan Peoples-Jones – all my teammates. Lavert Hill got an Ohio State offer. He liked it. Donovan Peoples-Jones, he liked it.”
