Unexpected offers for 2016 WR

Recruiting is always for of surprises. A sophomore in Florida has been surprised five times already with offers from schools he did not even know knew who he was...

Ahmmon Richards is only a sophomore and he may not be a name that is known throughout the country, but that could change soon.

The 6-foot-2, 175 pound athlete out of Wellington, Fla. has collected five offers already, so some top programs are already well aware of his talent.

"Miami, Ohio State, Georgia, Tennessee, and West Virginia have offered so far," said Richards. "West Virginia was first back in January and the others have come after that.

"It has been pretty exciting because I did not expect any of these offers. I really had not heard from any of those schools before they offered me.

"I thank my coaches for getting my name out there and I am just blessed right now. These offers are all blessings."

Richards has talked with coaches from each school over the phone and he is starting to learn about each program, but he has only visited one of the schools that has offered.

That is Miami.

"I have been to Miami and I like it there. I have been to a few games as a recruit and it was nice. I liked the atmosphere and I like what have done as a team in the past. Miami is a really good school and I hope to camp there this summer."

He has interest in the Hurricanes along with many others, but another in-state school was his favorite going up.

"I always liked the Florida Gators," said Richards. "I have not heard from them much, but I want to camp up there this summer. I got a questionaire my freshman year, but that is about it. I have always liked how they played."

Richards liked watching the Gators play when he was young and it appears the schools that have seen Richards play like what he does on the field.

He talks about his game a little.

"All the schools have offered me as a wide receiver and coaches tell me they like my playmaking ability.

"I think I know how to get open and just make plays. I think I can take the short pass and score or get deep with my speed. I can make guys miss and that is a strength of mine too."

Richards will continue to work to improve as a player as more offers roll in. He knows now eyes are on him.

"The offers really have surprised me," said Richards. "I did not know I was on the radar of any of the schools when they offered. I was really surprised and now I am working hard for the next one."
