Early interest in 2016 CB

A local school has already had Nygel Edmonds on campus multiple times this season and expect the interest to increase in the coming months. The sophomore corner out of Atlanta is one to watch...

Georgia Tech has started to recruit Nygel Edmonds early and the Yellow Jackets have had him on their campus for two games this season.

"I have been to Georgia Tech for the Syracuse game and the Virginia game," said Edmonds. "I really like the atmosphere there and I like the school a lot. I have gotten to talk to Coach [Lamar] Owens a lot and I like him. Georgia Tech has a great engineering program and that is what I want to major in - that is great too."

Georgia Tech is one of a handful of schools that are already aware of the 6-foot, 180 pound cornerback out of Atlanta (Ga.) The Westminster Schools.

"I am hearing from Northwestern, Boston College, Florida State, Cornell, and Princeton some too."

Edmonds does not have any clear favorites right now, but Georgia Tech has impressed him early on and a school up north has always had his interest.

"My favorite school has always been Ohio State. I have family up there in Ohio and most of my mom's family lives there. I have always watched Ohio State and I still like them a lot."

No offers just yet for Edmonds, but those will come in time.

He has three interceptions this season and he talks a little about his game.

"I think I really see the field well and my vision is a strength," said Edmonds. "I also think I can cover well and that I am a solid tackler."

Edmonds has been timed at 4.45 seconds in the 40 yard dash.

Westminster travels to Jefferson Friday for their first round playoff game.
