2014 Midwest Top 150

There are currently 50 four-stars in the Midwest and several kids we think are on the verge of adding those fourth stars this fall. Here is Fox Sports NEXT's preseason look at the top 150 recruits in the Midwest.

There is no change at the top as hard hitting Plainfield South (Ill.) linebacker Clifton Garrett remains in the top spot. His combination of physicality and the ability he showed dropping into space this off-season makes him the complete package.

The Midwest continues to be strong up front with 66 of the top 150 playing either offensive or defensive line. If you look at the NFL Draft numbers, that shouldn't be a surprise as the Midwest has produced 1st Round linemen like Eric Fisher, Jake Long, Joe Thomas, Robert Gallery, Travis Frederick, Bryan Bulaga, Joe Staley and others in recent years. Will the top dogs this year, Ohio State commit Jamarco Jones and recent Alabama commit Ross Pierschbacher be next?

Who has the most commits on the list? Michigan State leads the way with 13 followed by Ohio State (11), Kentucky (9) and Louisville (8). Western Michigan is recruiting well and puts five on the list. The top out of region school is Vanderbilt who has five.

A sign of the times? On the list, only 17 of the 150 prospects remain uncommitted. Compare that to just five years ago, when we only did a Midwest 100 and there were 37 uncommitted.

By State
Ohio - 55
Illinois - 33
Michigan - 21
Indiana - 16
Wisconsin - 8
Iowa - 6
Kentucky - 6
Minnesota - 5
