Williams up to 22 offers

Last week, four-star running back Donte Williams picked up another big-time scholarship offer. The Durham (N.C.) Hillside talks about the latest developments in his recruitment.

Donte Williams continues to add scholarship offers. Last Thursday, Williams was offered by Florida State.

"It was pretty big getting that offer," said the 6-foot-2, 217-pound Williams. "Coach (Jay) Graham recruited me at Tennessee before he moved to Florida State and had been showing a lot of interest. I have 22 offers now."

Williams thinks highly of Florida State.

"There are a really good team and they have had a lot of good running backs," he said. "Now, I'm going to take some time to look into the school and see how the academics are there."

"I have brother who lives close to there, so I'll probably go down there and stay with him and check them out sometime."

Williams recently took a trip to West Virginia and came away impressed.

"At West Virginia, they talked to me about their offense and just the overall program," he said. "I thought it was cool that Stedman Bailey and Tavon Austin played there."

"My favorite part was getting a chance to sit down and talk to the coaches. They were telling me that they would love to have me and that they're going to keep recruiting me really hard."

He has a few trips scheduled this summer.

"I know we're are going to Notre Dame sometime in early June," he said. "We are going to go up there and tour the school and look at the campus. I'm also going to Clemson this summer."

Six schools are at out in front for Williams at this time.

"Clemson, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Georgia and West Virginia are my top schools – in no particular order," he said.

Williams said Clemson, Georgia Tech and West Virginia are the schools pursuing him the hardest.

The Hillside star is in no hurry to make his college decision.

"I want to take as much time as I can," he said. "I'm going to talk it over with my mom and my coach – they're going to play a big role helping me make my decision. I'm probably going to wait and make my decision on Signing Day."

Last season, Williams rushed for 750 yards and six touchdowns.
