Scout 300 OT Gives Latest
Despite all the attention, the 6-foot-7, 310-pound Prince has his priorities in order, "Right now I am just taking it day by day," said Prince. "I am worried about becoming a better football player and the recruiting will take care of itself."
So what is he doing to become a better football player? A lot.
"I have been working hard and getting up every day at five o'clock in the morning to work out," said Prince. "I am trying to improve my flexibility and get stronger and faster so I can be a more well-rounded athlete."
On the recruiting front Prince has only visited Maryland, attending the Terps' junior day on February, 16.
"I have been there so many times," said Prince. "We just to the [Maryland vs.] Duke [basketball], and I talked with the coaches a little, but there wasn't really anything they showed me I had not seen yet."
Prince will be back at Maryland on Thursday when he attends spring practice with his high school team, Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Md.).
Prince expressed his opinion on Maryland's move to the Big Ten Conference, ‘'I think it is a great move'', said Prince. "Not just football-wise but for the whole program. In the Big Ten you play against some of the best offense and defensive line in country. It is better competition plus more TV time, so I think it is huge for the program."
Education will be a key factor in Prince's decision, "Academics are important for me," said Prince. "I want to have the best opportunity to be successful in the future."
In addition to the academics, Prince is also looking at each program's coaching staff, "The coaching is really important to me too," said Prince. " I am going to go somewhere where I think I can get the best from my coaches and they can get the best out of me."
Playing time could be a factor in Prince's decision, something that may hurt Maryland's chances.
"Maryland actually has a lot of players for my position on campus, so it puts me in funny situation," said Prince. "I definitely want to earn my spot, but I also want to be in a position where I can come in and start as a freshman. I am not really sure if that opportunity is available at Maryland.''
However, Prince said he is not ruling Maryland out.
Prince is not naming any favorites at this point but he did mention one school by name.
"I look at a school like Rutgers, they have six offensive line coaches," said Prince. " I really like that and I think it presents the best opportunity for a player to get attention and coaching."
As far as the future is concerned, Prince is working with his family to plan visits for later this spring and summer.
"I am going back to Maryland and I should be going out to Ohio State soon," said Prince. "I also definitely want to visit Rutgers, Florida, Florida State, Alabama and North Carolina."
Prince plans to narrow his list to 10 in July but said he will not make his final decision until signing day.
