Sykes Talks Move

2014 linebacker Nile Sykes is making the move to Montini Catholic (Ill.) High and talks about that and the latest with his recruitment.

Linebacker Nile Sykes played his junior season at Oak Park River Forest (Ill.) High but will move to play his senior year at Montini Catholic High for several reasons.

"I ended up choosing Montini because my family moved out of Oak Park and I needed to choose a new school to attend," Sykes said. "I have a really good friend, Simmie Cobb who is doing very well at Montini and really likes it there."

Plus, the fact that Montini has won four straight IHSA State titles didn't hurt either.

"I am also aware of how successful the team has been and that factored in my decision," Sykes said. "I think that Montini will help me prepare for the next level not only on the field but also in the classroom."

Sykes spent his junior season playing defensive end for Oak Park River Forest High, but will switch to linebacker for the Broncos.

Sykes has started school at Montini, and already has coaches planning on stopping by.

"Coach Mike Vrabel from Ohio State said he would be by the school Monday to see me," Sykes said.

Plus, he has a few junior days planned.

"I am going to visit Indiana for a junior day on January 27th," Sykes said. "I am going for their elite junior day and I believe we're going to get to check out a basketball game."
