Game Wrap: Simeon v. Mt. Carmel

Game Wrap: Simeon v. Mt. Carmel

We caught up with Mount Carmel's Enoch Smith Jr. and Simeon's Reggie Spearman following second round action in the IHSA State Playoffs this weekend.

Mount Carmel rode a strong defensive effort, led by junior Enoch Smith Jr.

Smith, who recorded a couple of sacks in only 2 quarters of play, talked about his team's playoff run, the defensive effort of both the starters and the backups, and what they will do moving forward.

He also brought us up to speed on his recruitment, and he seems to be keeping an even playing field so far.

For Simeon senior and Illinois commit Reggie Spearman, the game was bittersweet. His high school career ended on Simeon's home field at Gately Stadium, and immediately after the game, you could tell it hit him that his Simeon career had come to an end.

But despite a tough game, Spearman still kept his eyes on the positives, not only for himself, but for the rest of his team.

See, Spearman knows what Simeon Football did for him throughout his high school career. It was more than just an opportunity to get a college scholarship. He pointed out that, without football, a lot of his teammates wouldn't be where they are now.
