When thinking of the best teams in the NFL over the past 10 games, the New England Patriots are no surprise to come up in the conversation but the Arizona Cardinals are a different story.

However, as the two teams prepare to clash Sunday in New England, the Patriots (9-1) and Cardinals (8-2) are the two hottest teams in the NFL dating back from the final nine games of the 2011 campaign and Week 1 of 2012.

Even though the Cardinals have been impressive over their past 10 contests, they still will be significant underdogs on the road this week. The Patriots were up to their old tricks in the regular-season opener against the Tennessee Titans and appear to be a well-balanced team on both sides of the ball.

Meanwhile, Arizona has a few – if not several areas of concern. Topping the list is an inept running game. Neither Beanie Wells nor Ryan Williams was able to muster anything on ground against the Seattle Seahawks as the Cardinals managed only 43 yards rushing. Certainly, the running game will need to be much better in order to give Kevin Kolb and company a chance to make something happen through the air.

On a positive note, Arizona did hold Seattle to only 139 yards passing, ranking fourth best in the NFL after one week. Unfortunately for the Cardinals, facing Tom Brady will be a far cry from Seahawks rookie signal caller Russell Wilson.

Arizona a Kolb will be riding a high from last week’s victory and might manage to stick around with Patriots for a half or so. But in the end, look for New England to pull away and the potential for a blowout does exist.
