Ball, 6-foot-2, 210-pounds, was a three-year starter for one of Ohio's top programs annually. He earned his Ohio State prior to his junior season, and committed shortly thereafter. He was also one of the ringleaders in trying to help recruit others to join him at Ohio State.
With Dunn already enrolled and going through spring football, there is a chance Ball could redshirt this coming season. Ohio State also returns Carlos Hyde, Jordan Hall and Roderick Smith to a crowded depth chart at tailback. Ball should perfectly into Urban Meyer's spread attack.
Warren Ball was hampered by injuries early in his high school career, but when healthy, he shows a wonderful blend of speed and power. There are no questions about his work ethic or academic reputation, and he seems to be a logical choice for a potential Ohio State captain's role in the future.
"Good sized back who runs upright, but breaks a lot of arm tackles and has good overall balance. Has a nice stiff-arm and uses it effectively. He's a physical specimen with good strength and overall athleticism and acceleration. Breakaway speed is good, maybe not elite. The main question on him is his ability to stay healthy as he has been injury prone throughout his career." - Allen Trieu.
BALL ON CHOOSING OHIO STATE:
Ohio State will be the next stop in his football career, and Ball has never wavered in his Buckeye commitment throughout the past year.
"Ohio State is going through some tough times, but my dream has always been to play for the Buckeyes," he exclaimed. "Ever since I can remember I've wanted to play for Ohio State, and I still feel that way today. I'm just as excited to be an Ohio State commit today as I was the day I made my decision."
"I have never second-guessed my decision to be a Buckeye at all, not even for a second," he stressed. "The recent troubles they've been through will only make us stronger and better. It never changed for me, even with Coach (Jim) Tressel resigning and the NCAA troubles. It is a great school, and it's bigger than one coach or one player. I'm trying to help recruit others to join us at Ohio State, guys like Adolphus Washington, Dwayne Stanford, Jordan Diggs, and a few others. We are going to have a great class in the end, and we will be players that love Ohio State and will look to continue the great tradition of excellence."
