We want to inform you today of another great charity event coming up.
The second annual Korey Stringer Memorial Charity Classic is going to be taking
place July 1st at 8 am at Avalon Lakes Golf Course in Warren, Ohio. Many
of your favorite Ohio sports celebrities will be taking part, including
ex-Buckeyes Paul Warfield, Robert Smith, Terry Glenn, Matt Finkes, Pepe Pearson,
Van Ness DeCree, Raymont Harris, Kirk Lowdermilk, Archie Griffin, Tom Cousineau,
Jim Bell, and Coach John Cooper as well as current assistant coach Tim Spencer.
Current Buckeyes Justin Zwick, Doug Datish and Mike Kudla will be attending as
well. Also attending will be University of Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops,
Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver Peter Warrick, University of Michigan standouts
Carl Diggs and Marlin Jackson, ex-NFL star Gary Jeter, and ex-Cleveland Browns
players Reggie Langhorne, Ricky Feacher, Tommy Davis, and Greg Pruitt.
This is a great lineup, and the event is for a great cause as proceeds will
go to the Stringer Fund, through which the proceeds will go to Korey's favorite
charities. Korey believed in giving back to the community as he was very
active in helping out in his hometown of Warren, and this event helps keep that
vision alive.
Also included in the two-day event are a free youth football camp and a
charity auction, at which you can find all sorts of great memorabilia to bid
on. This year's auction will take place on June 30 at McMenamy’s Banquet
Center. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with dinner beginning at 7:00 p.m., and
after dinner, Archie Griffin will be the keynote speaker. Tickets for the
dinner and auction are $50 and can be purchased at various locations around
Warren and Youngstown, including Outback Steakhouse in both Niles and Boardman,
McMenamy’s Banquet Center Cut Cations in Warren, and, and Dr. John
Barnhart’s Office in Champion. The football camp will be at Warren
Mollenkopf Stadium on June 30 at 8 a.m. (applications have been closed because
camp is full).
Reservations are being accepted on a first come basis, with a weighted
preference being given to those that purchase sponsorship. Applications can be
found in the Warren Tribune Chronicle and the Youngstown Vindicator.
Tickets to the golf outing are $10 and can be purchased at the gate.
