The NCAA reinstatement staff has determined tailback Jordan Hall, cornerback Travis Howard and safety Corey Brown are cleared to play Saturday when Ohio State travels to Miami (Fla.) for a football clash under the lights.
The three missed the Buckeyes’ first two games, wins over Akron and Toledo, while the school and the NCAA investigated a trip they took to Cleveland in February for a charity event.
The ultimate conclusion of the investigation was they received $200 from a booster. They must repay that amount to a separate charity.
“The university appreciates the NCAA’s expeditious response in reinstating these three student athletes,” Ohio State director of athletics Gene Smith said via statement.
The NCAA release also notes that while the players have been reinstated, that process is separate from enforcement of NCAA rules so an investigation of the situation that led to the violations is ongoing.
